the BIG art show

the BIG ART SHOW

BIG ART SHOW gives local, unknown, and independent artists an opportunity to perform and display their work to their peers and to the public. Run by a collective of artists and volunteers based out of the Philadelphia, New Jersey, and Brooklyn area, BIG ART SHOW is driven by a passion to create an environment devoid of the pressures and insincerities of the public media.

BIG ART SHOW creates community both locally and nationally by having traveling art events which invite visual artists from any location to display their work, attend the shows, and network with other artists. Similarly, BIG ART SHOW provides an opportunity in which lesser-known musicians can play in front of larger and more varied audiences.

Critical Exposure

Look through the eyes of students as they document their experiences in public schools.

Critical Exposure is an national organization dedicated to using students' documentary photography and first-person narrative to build public demand for quality education and to support campaigns to secure more resources for all public schools.

EXHIBIT & RECEPTION - MARCH 22nd
Thursday, March 22nd from 6:30-8:30pm in D.C. at the ARTiculate Gallery at 16th & L NW.

Come see the first exhibit of D.C. students' photographs and writing. Look through the eyes of D.C. youth as they document their struggles and their aspirations. PUNK LOVE. 02.02.07 thru 03.03.07

you gotta love when you walk into an art gallery *ahem*, fine art gallery, and Pay to Cum is playing over the stereo. Jana, Jason and I braved last Saturday's wintry mix, and hit Georgetown to see some of our favorite old school DC icons. Take a walk down second generation punk memory lane, to view the photography of Susie J. Horgan.

DEPRESSING! Sad Photography for VDAY/PHILLY 02.17.07

With as much fun as I had in Philadelphia this weekend, I would be remiss in failing to mention the goings on THIS SATURDAY in the city of brotherly love. If you are not going Mastodon, NOT staying home to watch JT on SNL, then you should take a short drive up 95 to attend:

DEPRESSING!
Sad photography just in time for Valentine's Day. Wallow in self pity and drown your sorrows in booze, food and wake like revelry, philly style. This isn't your everyday art show... with work by Ted Adams, Richard Bell, Harvey Finkle, Eric Mencher, Sarah van Keuren and MORE!

When: Saturday, February 17th
8PM- 1AM
Southwark Gallery
1011 South 6th Street, Philadelphia
