the hirshhorn is my favorite place in the city, so you can imagine how excited i am when i get to combine my favorite place, with my favorite things (music and booze, baby). the goal of this after hours: view the art, dont just stand by the d.j. in line for yet another drink (as if i were at any bar in the city).

late night viewing of german artist wolfgang tillmans photography will be accentuated by music from new york d.j. spencer product. and remember, this is interactive so you can leave your thoughts and impressions for the audio scrapbook.

Exploring the duality in Japanese art today, Transformer Gallery is partnering with Shigeko Bork Mu Project to present "Big in Japan" a cross-town collaborative exhibition featuring a diverse array of contemporary Japanese artists who interpret and respond to the tradition and popular culture of Japan.

Shigeko Bork Mu Project presents Meditation Rooms featuring Yumi Kori and Shinji Turner-Yamamoto, whose works uniquely incorporate ancient Japanese tradition and contemporary culture. Transformer presents Not Only A, But Also B - featuring work by Aki Goto, Misaki Kawai, Chikara Matsumoto, Kazuyuki Takezaki, and Soju Tao (pictured on Transformer website), each embodying the tensions affecting a new generation of contemporary artists in Japan. Not only A, But Also B is guest-curated by Atsuko Ninagawa, curator, and partner of TAKEFLOOR404&502, Toyko, Japan.

yo dudes. If you didn't have a chance to attend The Onion DC Kick Off party last night, you missed a damn good time. Great sets by Kaleidoscope, Georgie James, the bawdy comic stylings from the one and only Neil Hamburger and stand up and video shorts from one of the funniest guys you've never heard of. Ok, maybe you have and I'm trying to make myself feel better. prolly. Aziz Ansari (The Human Giant/MTV) had the whole of the mainstage crowd at the Cat rapt and hanging on his every punchline. I have no idea how long this guy was on stage but everyone in the place was in near hysterics and didn't seem to take notice to the time. Peep his newest creation titled "The Shutterbugs" and see if you aren't hooked.

Another brand new month is upon us, and I as always, am busier than sin. There was nothing much to post for new music tuesday, however, I recently changed my email address and I didn't have a chance to post deets for last night's Yellow Fever and Riff Raff events. For this, I'm truly sorry. Tomorrow night, I'll be attending a DCBIA dinner for the Revival of H Street. I'm especially excited because Harriet Tregoning, the newly appointed DC Director of the Office of Planning will be one of the speakers. For those of you who don't know, Ms. Tregoning spent a number of years at the EPA and later, helped to found the Smart Growth Network. I don't talk about work much, but she is totally one of my "sheros". Anyway, I'm hoping to rub elbows with her and a bunch of other forward thinking DC development people tomorrow night, so I'll be missing out on my typical Thursday night hijinx with you kids. Hey! I'm looking out for YOUR FUTURE!!! Stay tuned...
