Baby's Very First Rave 02.24.07

Yikes! It's next weekend! I've been living, sleeping & eating electronica-event-production for the past few weeks. We have: 24 red lights, 5 bartenders, 2 "live acts" (electronica artists that compose the music simultaneously with performance), 1 DJ, 2 video/projection artists, 1 DJ stage (begged, borrowed & stolen from our children's theater), 3 projection screens. What else do we need? YOU, to warm up the dance floor, appreciate the music where our normal audience won't be able to, and have a general good time at the Smithsonian. (And watch me run around & play event coordinator.)

Let me recap my earlier posting on the subject: (Watch out, it's a long one!)

MUTEK and the government of Quebec are bringing down 2 "live acts" and 1 DJ from their yearly underground electronica festival. (If you don't know, find out through the website! It's epic!) With the underground movement in Montreal having gained speed around the mid to late 90's, these guys definitely know their stuff.

MONTREAL UNDERGROUND
Saturday, February 24, 9pm-1am
Ripley Center, Smithsonian Institution, 1100 Jefferson Drive SW
(appropriately, the event takes place 3 floors underground)
$30, open bar

Also added to the bill are video-artist-duo Clandestine & les passagers, projected on 3 screens during the event. Pheek Mossa & Lemieux specialze in minimalist house, with the unmistakable stamp of quirky canadian french-speakers.

But don't take my word for it, check it out:
