Contrary to popular belief, Cinco de Mayo is not just a an excuse to drink mass quantities of Mexican beer. Cinco de Mayo is also misconcieved as "Mexican Independence Day" when actually, today marks the day that the Mexican Army defeated the French at the Batalla de Puebla. Eventually we lost, but the significance of May 5th has come to be a celebration of unity and pride for all Mexicans.
