THIS THURSDAY!!! State of the Union, MODERNIST SOCIETY STYLE! 01.25.07

For those of you too young to remember, the State of
the Union
was once the funkiest, most diverse, and
musically forward looking bar/club in Washington, DC.
Near the corner of 14th and U, it was the first new
bar after Polly's to come into the neighborhood after
the MLK riots and the Green Line Metro construction
tore up the historic (but run down) U Street Corridor.
For most of the 90's State was THE place to be.
Resident and guest DJ's included The Deep Dish Boys,
members of Thievery Corporation, Citizen Cope, Jean
Phillipe Aviance, Lofty Love, The Grits and Gravy Crew
and one DJ Neville Chamberlain (who played his first
gig there).

This Thursday, Neville, along with DJ's D-Mac and
Triscuit, will resurrect the spirit of State of the
Union by spinning a set of whatever they like (as long
as its got the funk).

Saint Ex
Tunes start at 10PM.
No Cover.
1847 14th Street NW.
